Panchkarma therapies form the main part of Ayurvedic medicines. Panchkarma is known to restore mental and physical health by nullifying negative effects of faulty lifestyles. These therapies cleanse the body of toxins to improve functions and restore a balanced and healthy system.
This therapy eliminates the diseases caused by excessive Kapha. Respiratory congestion, asthma, bronchitis, chronic cold, sinus, psoriasis, acne, psychiatric problems and so forth are cured by Vaman.
Diseases caused by excess pitta, Ayurveda has therapeutic purgation therapies. Acute and chronic problems of the skin like pimples, allergies, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, infertility, obesity, arthritis etc. can be cured.
Nasya is the administration of medicines through the nose. Ayurveda calls the nose to be a doorway to the brain. It enhances the memory, activity and functions of the brain. Through Nasya, mental maladies like depression, hypertension, migraines, headaches, insomnia and anxiety can be treated. It is also very effective for stiffness in head, neck and shoulders, facial paralysis, problems of stammering, loss of speech, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, epilepsy and locked jaw etc.
Basti includes Decoction of herbal oils, medicated milk, etc. into the colon through rectum. Such extracts are applied through the rectum to cure motor neuron disorders, Parkinson"s diseases, inter vertebral discs prolapsed, hemiplegia, paraplegia, infertility, constipation, obesity, backaches, joint pain, fissure in ano etc.

It is the traditional Ayurvedic method for purification and cleansing of the blood. It is used to eliminate toxins that are absorbed into the bloodstream through the gastrointestinal tract. It is used for disorders such as repeated attacks of skin disorders such as urticaria, rash, eczema, acne, scabies, leucoderma, chronic itching and hives. Bloodletting also stimulates the spleen to produce antitoxic substances, which helps to stimulate the immune system.
